WAYF

WAYF (Where Are You From) is a new infrastructure that reuses personal IDs. With WAYF employees and students at universities and research institutions can now (re)use their existing usernames and passwords to acces serices not run by the institution itself. For instance journal databases, library archives a.o. WAYF also works as single-sign-on, which means that the system kan reuse our information, but only for to 8 hours or untill you close your browser.
How does WAYF work?
WAYF communicates with two types of organisations: Service providers and institutions. The serviceproviders (fx a research library) offers its service to the institution. The institution provides information about the users. WAYF ensures the technical protocol translations necessary for communication between the two types of organisations and ensures that each user has agreed to disclosure of the personnal data.
WAYF and Forskningsnettet
WAYF is anchored in Forskningsnettet and co-financed by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and the Denmarks Electronic Research Library.
